The Storm, Week 10: The Deep Freeze of Assets

trumps executive order under the global magnitsky act the storm freezing assets of the deep state

The ice storm cometh.

On the 21st of December, on the longest night and Winter Solstice, President Trump froze the assets of a host of worldwide traffickers and thugs who have financial ties to the Deep State.

We always knew Trump was a showman, but who would have thought he had such a poetic sense of timing as well? A tax cut under the Christmas tree for us and a lump of coal in the stockings of those who have evaded justice for so long.

It was a momentous day in a momentous year. It appears to signal the continuation of the global dragnet started when the Saudi government arrested and froze the assets of Alwaleed bin-Talal and others.

Last week, I chose the photo of the crumbling of the Walls of Jericho for the thread. It turned out to be fitting. That Executive Order was as close to a blast of horns as we’ll ever hear in politics.

Those Initially Targeted by the Executive Order

So cheers to this being the Winter of the Deep State’s Discontent. They just got hit by a Polar Express.

With this long Christmas weekend, I would anticipate the news should be quite slow. Therefore, we’ll likely ride this thread to the end of the year.

In the meantime, get cozy, rejoice in the spirit of the season with friends and family, and if anything big breaks, I’ll be posting it here. Merry Christmas to you all, dear readers.

It’s been an honor chronicling the storm and watching it unfold with you all.

Andrew McCabe “Retiring” Early Next Year

It’s hard to be a higher-up in intel and ward off pending legal issues at the same time is more apt.

This is just a Deep State newspaper putting the best possible spin on the situation.

From the Washington Post:

Andrew McCabe, the FBI’s deputy director who has been the target of Republican critics for more than a year, plans to retire in a few months when he becomes fully eligible for pension benefits, according to people familiar with the matter.

Merry Christmas!

More Charity Fraud

I’ve harped repeatedly on how the political class prey upon your good will. Please screen charitable and “philanthropic” organizations with a fine-toothed comb.

A Democrat running for a U.S. House seat in Virginia has been indicted on charges of fraud, embezzlement and theft in connection with events that allegedly occurred in 2012.

Shaun Brown, 58, appeared in a Norfolk courtroom last week and denied any wrongdoing, the Daily Press of Newport News, Va., reported. She said she intends to fight the charges and be exonerated, the report said.

Prosecutors said Brown received about $803,000 via her nonprofit organization as a participant in a U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Summer Food Service Program.

Earlier in December, Brown filed a suit against the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Virginia Department of Health and others, alleging discrimination against African-Americans, delayed payments, falsified reimbursements and claims for reimbursement, the Daily Press reported.

Sharyl Attkisson With a Handy-Dandy Recap of DOJ and FBI Players Under Investigation

She’s one of the last real journalists left. One of the ways you know she does good work is that she has been spied upon by the Obama Administration.

She wrote a post on her website that does a fine job of summarizing the jeopardy the Deep State DOJ and FBI agents are in.

The investigations into the investigators include Congressional inquiries and a multi-faceted probe launched by Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz surrounding the FBI decision not to prosecute Clinton. Specifically, Horowitz—who was appointed by President Obama—said he’s reviewing:

  • Allegations that FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe and Assistant Attorney General Peter Kadzik should have recused themselves.
  • Allegations of improper political contacts by Kadzik.
  • Allegations that Justice Department and FBI employees improperly disclosed non-public information and were influenced by improper considerations in releasing certain documents just before the 2016 election.

Read up on Inspector General Michael Horowitz. His name will become much more prominent soon.

Nunes Subpoenas David Kramer, Who Gave Steele Dossier to John McCain

Sounds like Devin Nunes wants to know about Christopher Steele’s Russian sources and Kramer appears to have that info. Kramer and his buddies have until January 11th to concoct some excuses and/or lies.

House Intelligence Committee chairman Devin Nunes has issued a subpoena to David Kramer, a former State Department official who, in late November 2016, traveled to London to receive a briefing and a copy of the Trump dossier from its author, former British spy Christopher Steele. Kramer then returned to the U.S. to give the document to Sen. John McCain.

McCain, recovering in Arizona from treatments for cancer, has long refused to detail his actions regarding the dossier. For his part, Kramer was interviewed by the House Intelligence Committee on Dec. 19. The new subpoena stems from statements Kramer made in that interview.

In the session, Kramer told House investigators that he knew the identities of the Russian sources for the allegations in Steele’s dossier. But when investigators pressed Kramer to reveal those names, he declined to do so.

Now, he is under subpoena. The subpoena, issued Wednesday afternoon, directs Kramer to appear again before House investigators on Jan. 11.
